Environmental medicine was originally proposed as the study of effects upon human beings of external physical, chemical, and biological factors in the general environment [5], but environmental physicians focus more and more on the diagnosis and management of adverse health effects related to the physical and chemical contamination of air, soil. This book discusses six competency based learning objectives for all medical school students, discusses the relevance of environmental health to specific courses and clerkships, and demonstrates how to integrate environmental health into the curriculum through published case studies, some of which are included in one of the book's three appendices.

Environmental health practice is concerned with assessing, controlling, and preventing factors in the environment that can potentially affect human health. This chapter discusses briefly the concept and scope of environmental health, highlighting environmental health issues against a backdrop of global trends in health and development, and the burden of environmentally related disease.   Principles of Stable Isotope Geochemistry is written as a textbook to accompany a one semester course in Stable Isotope Geochemistry. There are 13 chapters, each dealing with a specific subtopic of the field. Other than Chapters 1 and 2 – introduction and definitions – most of the remaining chapters can be read without reliance on the preceding ones. It is also hoped that the book will.
